- 1). Remove the closet doors. Lift sliding doors straight up and then to the back to remove the wheels from the track across the top of the closet door opening. Unscrew the hinge screws from the door casing for bi-fold or other hinged doors.
- 2). Measure the width of the closet door opening and buy a closet rod to fit the measurement. Trim the rod to the correct length with a hacksaw, if necessary.
- 3). Measure the length of the curtains from the rod pocket to the bottom of the hem. Measure up from the floor on the door casing on each side, and mark the correct placement of the closet rod flanges.
- 4). Install a closet rod flange on each side of the closet door casing, using a screwdriver and the screws provided with the flanges. Insert the rod into the flanges to check for proper fit. Trim the rod with a hacksaw, if necessary.
- 5). Insert the rod into the curtain casing and hang. Alternatively, slip drapery clip rings over the closet rod. Pinch each clip and slide the curtain fabric between the teeth, starting at one side and placing the clips evenly spaced across the top of the curtain.
