Acquire a Child's UK Passport in Britain

• 1). Begin the online application process for a child's UK passport at the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) application page (see Resources). Fill out identifying information about your child as well as your own name, birthplace and current passport number, making sure the address you have listed on the application is correct.
  
  
• 2). Submit the online application to the IPS. They will send you a pre-printed form with the information you submitted to them within a few days.
  
  
• 3). Sign the pre-printed application form for your child's UK passport and attach two passport photos that have been taken within the past 30 days. The photos must be identical and meet the standards adopted by the UK (see Resources). Some of the standards state that the photos must be in color and measure 45mm by 35mm.
  
  
• 4). Have certified copies of both parents' UK birth certificates, your child's birth certificate and your marriage certificate available to send with the passport application. If you and your child's other parent are divorced, you may be required to submit those papers as well.
  
  
• 5). Mail the form to the IPS address listed on your forms or bring it in person to a Check and Send station at your local post office. Remember to include the application fees, payable by check, money order or credit card (by mail) or also in cash or debit card (in person).
  
  

Acquire a Child's UK Passport in North America

• 1). Download and print out the application for a child's UK passport for those people living in the United States and Canada (see Resources).
  
  
• 2). Complete the application form, remembering to fill in details for both the child whose name is on the application and both parents. If your child has previously been included on your passport, you will need to fill in the document numbers.
  
  
• 3). Include the supporting documents required, such as passport photos, birth certificates and marriage certificates. The supporting documents are the same, regardless of whether you are applying for a passport inside or outside of the UK.
  
  
• 4). Send the application fee in US dollars when applying for a passport in North America.
  
  
• 5). Mail your entire application package for your child's UK passport to the North American Passport Production Centre, which is located within the British Embassy in Washington DC. The correct address for mailing will be imprinted on your application forms.
