Tips to Help Prevent Ingrown Hairs After Shaving

Almost all regular shavers have encountered the problem of the ingrown hair - those irritating bumps near the neck and below the jaw-line that often gives you an irritating sensation and makes shaving difficult, not to say taking away from a smooth-skin look.
Technically, it is a shortly cut hair that turns back on the skin, thus giving rise to a short bump or a rash.
They can happen anywhere on your body, but skin areas that are exposed to shaving and waxing are more susceptible to this condition.
Usually, a faulty shaving technique is responsible for the growth of ingrown hair.
The regions with dark skin patches are also areas where ingrown hair appears more commonly.
There are chances that ingrown hair can lead to infection, so it is very important to tackle the problem as soon as it appears.
The conventional way to deal with the problem of ingrown hair is to shave in one direction.
Shaving in the opposite direction forces the hair back towards the skin, and should be avoided at all costs.
Some hair can grow right beneath the surface of the skin, and that can be easily seen, and tackled with.
These types of hair can be brought out with tweezers, if it is caught between the bump.
If it becomes difficult, it means that the hair is still strongly wedged into the skin.
The best way out is to wait for the bump to heal itself.
Once it does, you can pull the hair off - it usually does not take more than a day or two.
To avoid them in the first place, avoid shaving against the grain in areas that are more susceptible to ingrown hair - like the region below the jaw-line, and the neck.
Other normal shaving precautions should be followed, like cleaning your face regularly, using a moisturizer to soften your skin after shaving, using sharp and new blades and a good shaving cream for consistent lather, preferably a herbal one.
By keeping your shaving regular and hygienic, you can avoid the problem of ingrown hair.
