How to Make a Moxie Hair Net
- 1). Drape the end of the thread onto the dowel rod. Loop the thread over the rod, back behind the rod and in front of the thread, around the dowel again and over the connecting loop. This creates a half-hitch knot. Pull the thread tight.
- 2). Place the gauge stick under the dowel rod. Wrap one loop around the stick and create another half hitch knot. Continue the wrapping and knotting process to create 50 half-hitch knots on the dowel.
- 3). Slide the gauge stick out from under the first row of loops. Place it under the loops and wrap the next row of loops over it. Bring the thread in front of the gauge stick then loop it around the back and through the top loop. Thread the thread through the loop again, but do not wrap it around the stick. Pull the thread into the loose loop and pull tight. Make one of these loops around each loop in the previous row. Make a total of 30 rows.
- 4). Pull a string through the loops just under the dowel. Slide the net off of the dowel and pull the string tight and tie together in a knot. Tie the long ends of the net together with a second string, using slip knots. This will form the bag shape necessary to use the hair net.
