  While not widely played in the United States, rugby is a popular sport throughout other parts of the world. Rugby is a physically challenging sport that resembles soccer but allows players rough contact with one another. Much like soccer, rugby players try to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team's net. Many video games simulating rugby have been released, including one for Nintendo's interactive Wii console.
  
  

"Rugby League 3"

• HES Interactive released "Rugby League 3" exclusively for the Nintendo Wii console in April 2010. Developed by Sidhe Interactive, "Rugby League 3" includes professional players from multiple rugby leagues. Players can compete in single games, seasons, or franchises that span multiple years. There is also an option in "Rugby League 3" that allows players to call all of the plays on the field, acting as the coach, but not control the actual players. Players can compete against one another in multiplayer mode, and online play allows gamers to take on opponents all over the world.
  
  

Names

• In "Rugby League 3," gamers create their own rugby players and guide them through the ranks of the league to stardom. By entering specific names for a created player, gamers can unlock new abilities. The names must be entered by the players themselves, as they are not listed by the game. Players who enter "Sombrero" as a name unlock a salary cap that extends to $100 million. To get rid of financial restraints all together for a rugby team, name a player "Sugar Daddy." Gamers can compete in rugby matches in extremely windy weather if they choose "Beans & Eggs" as a player's name. Entering "I'll be back" as a player's name will give the character a more muscular build.
  
  

National Rugby League Extras

• Rugby fans can get special footage and a new team from the National Rugby League, or NRL, by accomplishing certain tasks. To see highlights from the 2008 NRL season, players must first log four total hours playing "Rugby League 3." Players who win the championship while playing in Franchise Mode unlock highlights from the 2009 NRL season. The NRL Dream Team, a group comprised of the best players in the NRL, is unlocked by players in two ways: by playing "Rugby League 3" for at least 40 hours or by winning the championship in Franchise Mode while playing on the "Seasoned" difficulty setting.
