How to Fix the Grand Theft Auto IV PC Game

    • 1). Right-click on "My Computer" from your computer's Desktop. Select "Properties."

    • 2). Check your computer's system properties to ensure it meets the minimum requirements for playing "Grand Theft Auto IV." Your processor should be at least an Intel 2 Duo 1.8Ghz (GigaHertz) or AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz. At least 1.5 GB (GigaBytes) of memory are required, as well as 16 GB of hard drive space. Your video card must be at least an NVIDIA 7900 or ATI X1900, and must have at least 256 MB (MegaBytes) of memory.

    • 3). Download the latest updates for Microsoft Windows, Games for Windows and Direct X, without which the game will not run correctly. All of these updates can be downloaded by clicking "Windows Update" from the "Start" menu, or by using Internet Explorer to visit the "Windows Update" website. Either service will automatically select the updates your computer needs and prompt you before installing; click "Install" to update your software.

    • 4). Download the latest patch for "Grand Theft Auto IV." Once the file has downloaded, double-click to unzip. Double-click the unzipped file to update "Grand Theft Auto IV" to the latest version, which will fix the bugs present in the game's release code.

    • 5). Restart your computer before running "Grand Theft Auto IV" for the first time after installing the patch.
