Why do I say that? Well just look at every denomination we have, they are divided, unfruitful, powerless and no matter how much they attempt to be different they remain the same weak and unimpressive masses to the world.
Don't get me wrong they do many good things for society and the poor but just think how much power they miss out on not availing themselves of God's gift? Nothing has made more Atheists and skeptics than this mass of hurting and hypocritical denominations calling themselves God's chosen ones.
How in the world can we go through life defiling the very answer that God gave his body to defeat Satan's war-machine? If we were to just accept this wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit and release him through our lives imagine the souls that would come into the Kingdom of God as we act out miracles by the millions? This single issue if properly understood would free the Church to do the works of Jesus and even greater works, but we must repent of our hardened hearts and stupid mental processes that keep us bound to traditional nonsense.
Tongues did not cease in the forth century or any other century for that matter and scripture being cannonized wasn't it's replacement, if it were then why isn't the church more powerful than in the book of acts? Acts 2:1-13 (KJV) "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

" WHY DO WE NEED TONGUES? PETER MADE IT VERY CLEAR: Acts 2:14-21 "But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
" Tongues is the FULLFILMENT of God's plan not an END to it, it began a time where God himself through the Holy Spirit would bring to birth revelation knowledge on a scale the size of Heaven itself.
In fact it would bring about physical changes to earth itself! This is an act of God in historical terms that cannot be ignored by simply saying it disappeared from history in the 4th century and was replaced by the bible when it was cannonized, "That which is perfect is come" doesn't mean that at all, as that refers simply to our bodily resurrection to glory where we will no longer be stunted but fully grown in perfection.
Thus not needing the Holy Spirit to pray for us inwardly and guide us like lost sheep, but that sure is not the case now! It also must be understood that the Gift of Tongues is a many faceted gift, there are different forms of it spoken of in scripture not just the version in Acts 2, so private utterances CAN BE controlled by you but others CANNOT BE they are controlled by God's will alone like this utterance in Acts 2.
1 Corinthians 12:10-11 "To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
" Please make note of the phase "But ALL THESE worketh that selfsame Spirit...
" The Holy Spirit works ALL THE GIFTS AND CALLINGS ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, not our whims and fancies.
There are different manifestations of tongues spoken of in the New Testament: Both tongues of men and of God we can speak, in Acts 2 they spoke the tongues of the men from many lands gathered in Jerusalam, this is one fulfillment of tongues which many Missionaries down through history have operated in.
But it is not learning a new language naturally it is the recreated spirit of man speaking it supernatually without previous knowledge of that language, hence it is a sign to the unbelievers standing there listening to the Apostles speak knowing they were but simple fishermen with no formal education.
This Tongue cannot be controlled by the speaker it is used as God wills it only! 1 Corinthians 14:4-5 "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.
" This tongue is spoken in a church setting WITH the interpretation following because no one outside the person praying it would receive benefit otherwise.
But private Tongues for personal edification of one's spirit man is another form used as I have stated before for the edification of the spirit of man, a direct power connection to the throne room in heaven.
God is explaining the mysteries of glory that directly affect you personally in connection to your gifts and callings, your personal need answered by God into your spirit.
These Tongues are explaining and interpreting the scripture that you have meditated upon, bringing it's revealed power and releasing it into your life! The more you pray in personal Tongues the more edified your inner man becomes.
And please understand that you DO NOT know what you are praying for or even saying but you do know that God is doing for your edification what is needed to bring you into his glory.
1 Corinthians 14:18-19 "I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all: Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
" This is how Paul received the mysteries he revealed to the church to bring it back from the deceptions of the Judisers who were attempting to bring the gentile believers under the bondage of the Law.
This is why he spoke in Tongues more than anyone else but still would rather speak plainly the message to be understood by those who did not pray that way.
However without praying Tongues privately he would have had no message to preach openly, both are clearly needed! That having been established we have proven that scripture is not "that which is perfect", it is the recreated human spirit, powered through praying in tongues that brings us close to God's glory and finally to that which is perfect- our resurrection to final glory and a spiritual body where we will no longer need the edification process, we'll then be perfect.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
" While this is absolutely true, it is also true...
2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
" So it is plain that HAVING SCRIPTURE that is true and rightly separating it in our hearts as truth are two different things completely.
But we should always have both the truth and it's separation into our spirit or deceptions will be forthcoming.
What do I mean by separating the Word of God to our spirit? It's simple, this is where meditating and praying in our prayer language come into play.
The more we move toward his word spiritually the closer we get to how God intended us to be, who doesn't want that? 2 Timothy 4:2-4 "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
" This WILL happen but only if people do not rightly divide themselves FROM sin, the church cannot function apart from sound doctrine, it cannot reinvent the wheel and make up it's own doctrines either.
There has to be a foundational doctrinal standard and that standard is the Word of God as FINAL AUTHORITY IN ALL THINGS SPIRITUAL...
PERIOD! The New life that Christ placed each believer into, changes us completely, it is God dividing us from darkness, he did the work and provided the path to follow but it is up to you personally to want to follow, he will not force edification on you if you'd rather live below your standing of righteousness.
John 4:7-24 (KJV) "There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.
) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
" If Jesus himself said that we must worship God in spirit and in truth, then why would the gift that causes that to be true be taken away in the 4th century? It was in the 4th Century that the majority of false docrines and church destruction happened on a vast spiritual level and has continued into our day, so it is completely illogical to believe that the God of all wisdom removed from his church the power to defeat evil? Why would God solve the problem on one hand then create it again when scripture was cannonized, the problem we have is, that we ground ourselves not in our spirit where life from God exists but rather in our darkened soul and physical bodies where the old nature of death used to reside.
Why do we want to return to the vomit of the old life that Christ destroyed in the new birth? Romans 6:1-12 "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.
How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

YOU LET ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER HAVE CONTROL, it's completely your choice to either live for God as HE STATED HERE or to let sin have control.
Romans 5:19 " For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners (Adam's fall made all of us dark inside to God's laws), so by the obedience of one (Jesus Christ) shall many be made righteous.
" You see ONE CHOICE makes you pure and one choice makes you dark inside, but it's still your choice, weak or not you do make the choice!
