- 1). Open a hand-held spray bottle and fill it full of standard household vinegar, which contains acetic acid. Most household vinegars contain 5 percent of the acid, which works for killing plants. Some hardware stores sell vinegar at higher concentrations, which will also work well.
- 2). Close the sprayer up and take it to the outdoor area where the Virgina Creeper is growing. Cover any desirable plants or shrubs with a tarp to protect them from getting sprayed.
- 3). Spray the leaves and stem of the Virginia Creeper with the vinegar solution until every surface is wet and the solution begins to drip off onto the ground.
- 4). Trace the Virgina Creeper back to where it emerges from the ground. Open the spray bottle and pour the remaining vinegar into the soil as close to the stem as possible.
- 5). Monitor the area daily for signs of new growth from the ground. If any green shoots are detected, pour an additional 1 to 2 cups of vinegar onto them.
