101 1
Thinking of a garden wedding this coming spring or summer? Well I guess you still have time to get your garden ready to be your venue for your wedding. It is a lot less costly holding your wedding on your own yard. It may take you much effort to beautify your garden however it is much more paid off spending time and energy for this than paying for the venue, decoration, and flowers. Here is a simple idea to keep in mind to achieve a colorful, healthy plants all over your lawn.

One of the most important and often overlooked aspects of gardening is mulch. Mulch is not only decorative (although it can be), it helps the soil retain moisture and controls weeds—two benefits that can make your plants healthy and happy. Mulch can also become a beneficial fertilizer to your plants once they have decomposed as it can join in the nutrients it contains with the soil.

You should use mulch in both vegetable and most of all, flower gardens. Even use it around landscaping plants. There are dozens of types of mulch, and some are better for different applications. Organic mulches can and maintain moisture while releasing nutrients into the soil as it decomposes. Inorganic mulches are great at controlling weeds and can also attract heat in cooler climates. Here are a few examples of each:

Organic Mulches:
  • Chopped or shredded leaves
  • Straw
  • Newspaper
  • Grass clippings
  • Wood chips
  • Compost
  • Salt hay
  • Cardboard
  • Rotted hay

Inorganic Mulches:
  • Clear, black or colored plastic chips
  • Polyester garden fabrics
  • Gravel or stone
  • Carpet scraps

When using mulches, be sure to give some space between the plant stem and the mulch. This is especially important with organic mulches, which can cause stem rot or irritation if constantly brushing against the plant. Stay away from plastic mulches in hot climates because they can attract too much heat to the soil. Also consider your soil type before applying mulch. Heavy, clay soils and sandy soils both drain better without the moisture retention of mulch.

A garden wedding enhances every guest's mood as you bring them closest to the nature on your wedding day. Complement the event with your invitation cards with the design you choose that resembles a garden. You can have a printed design or a mosaic of dried indigenous materials like dried leaves or flower taken just right from your garden. It is also best to distribute wedding favors that conform with your theme. A butterfly favor is fantastic as it adds color and joy on the garden and to your state of mind as well. An eco-friendly favor or a garden-themed wedding favors of plantable sunflower seeds are also great ideas. Bringing these favors at home as your guests leave will truly impact in there heart and mind how fabulous your wedding was at your own place, at your own yard, at your own magnificent, flowery, and full of life garden!
