- 1). Cut three lengths of nylon string 2 inches longer than your typical neck measurement. Lay out an existing necklace you already own that you like the length of for reference.
- 2). Pin the three ends together together at one end. Lay the three strands straight out, removing any tangles.
- 3). Bring the string on your right over the middle string. Now it is the middle string.
- 4). Take the left-hand string, bringing it over the middle strand. Now it is the middle string.
- 5). Repeat the braiding steps until the necklace is to the length you desire. Give each weave a little tug as you go to ensure consistent tightness of the overall braid.
- 6). Remove the safety pin. Tie an overhand loop at this end, creating the catch. Tie the other end into a few knots, sufficient to allow easy, yet secure, fit into the loop at the other end.
