What Are Aesthetic Procedures? Do You Need Them?

103 4
The dictionary definition of the word "aesthetic" reads like this: "pertaining to the sense of the beautiful or to the science of aesthetics.
" Put this into the context of the medical world and you see that aesthetic procedures are those that are performed for the sake of beauty.
There are some other words that can be defined as this well, such as cosmetic surgery.
The difference between aesthetic procedures and cosmetic surgery is the procedures typically do not involve surgery.
They are designed to improve the appearances of patients and cater directly to those who want to be as beautiful as possible, but they are not necessarily surgeries where you have to lie on the table and let someone cut into your body.
Rather than a knife, aesthetic procedures today tend to use lasers.
Some aesthetic doctors may also use special creams and other products that help patients maintain their results for a longer period of time at home.
This increases the success of the procedures by keeping patients progressively more beautiful between their treatments.
Some of the procedures now being offered by aesthetic doctors include: • Botox and other types of injections • Ulthera • Threadlifts • Thermage • Liquid Volume Face Lift • SpectraPeel • Cosmelan Depigmentation All of these aesthetic procedures are used for different purposes and will have different results on different people.
There are also other procedures as well as similar procedures offered by slightly different names that may be found through different aesthetic doctors.
The wide variety of aesthetic procedures available today can be confusing.
This is why aesthetic doctors will have new patients come in for consultations before they agree to do any work for them.
Even if a patient calls up and knows what type of procedure they want, the doctor must do the consultation to make sure they are suitable clients for that particular procedure.
The doctor will also make sure that the patient knows all of their options.
Oftentimes patients have heard of one particular procedure but they don't realize that there is something different that would be a better fit for their skin's needs.
Many aesthetic doctors will also combine cosmetics and at-home skin care products with their procedures.
This is extremely effective because the products backup the progress that was made through the treatment in the doctor's office.
Patients are able to enhance their results over time rather than just waiting for them to start melting away and it is time for a touch-up or repeat consultation.
One thing worth noting is that many aesthetic procedures available today can be performed in very little time and most do not require any recovery time.
That is why you hear about people going in for an aesthetic procedure and heading directly from the doctor's office to meet friends for lunch or attend a meeting with clients of their own.
This is something that would have never been possible with traditional cosmetic surgery.
Maybe a cosmetic surgery did not require repeat performances to get permanent or long lasting effects, but they did come with very painful, long recovery periods in which everyone knew the person went through surgery.
Aesthetic procedures are far more discreet.
They are also very easy to go through with much less pain, which is the big benefit for many patients.
