How to Get Rid of Armpit Stains
- 1). First, know the type of fabric you're working with. These tips are usable for machine, or hand washable, fabrics only. Armpit stains are most noticeable on light colored clothing.
- 2). Use the bleaching power of sunlight to get rid of armpit stains. Turn your garment inside out, wet it thoroughly with plain water, and lay flat on an outside table in full sunlight. Be sure the armpit areas are exposed. Leave out until dried.
- 3). Hydrogen peroxide is another gentle bleaching agent. Mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water; then soak article of clothing for 30 minutes. Not recommended for darker clothing because of it's lightening ability.
- 4). Vinegar may be used as an alternative to hydrogen peroxide for lighter armpit stains removal. Mix a half cup of white vinegar in one cup of water and apply to stain. Allow to set for 30 minutes or longer, then launder.
- 5). Tougher armpit stains may need a baking soda or crushed aspirin scrub. Make a paste with either baking soda or two crushed, un-coated white aspirin and water. Apply with a toothbrush to get rid of armpit stains. Rinse, then wash as usual.
