How to Play the "Super Strikes" Soccer Card Game
- 1). Shuffle your Panini "Super Strikes" deck, and deal each person 14 cards. These will form your team. Eleven of these will be your first team, and the other three will be substitutes. You should have a goalkeeper and one player from every other position.
- 2). Place your players in the correct positions on the board in front of you, so that you have a goalkeeper and 10 outfield players in front of you. The 10 outfield players can be arranged in any formation you like. Aim to choose a formation that will be able to accommodate the better players within your starting lineup. For example, if you have five good defenders and only three good midfielders, it would be better to choose a 5-3-2 formation to maximize your players with the strongest statistics.
- 3). Decide with your opponent how you would like to set up the cards. You can choose to either have them all facedown, all faceup or mixed. Having mixed cards allows you to have some faceup and others facedown. This enables the opponent to see information about some of the players but not all.
- 4). Flip a coin, to decide who goes first. The person who goes first must then choose a player on his team and decide whether to attack or defend. If the first person chooses a player to attack, his opponent must then choose a player to defend. The same applies if the first player chooses defend. Then the opponent must choose a player to attack.
- 5). Compare the statistics of both players on the cards, to see who is the winner. If one player chose attack and the other defend, you would compare the attack number of one player with the defense number of the other. The player with the highest number gets the opponent's card and the first pick of a player next turn. If both the numbers are the same, then the player with the highest star rating gets the card. Both cards are then removed off the board.
- 6). Use your three substitutes on your bench to replace a player in your team. This allows you to switch out one player for another, if the player on the bench has a higher rating in a specific area than the player on the pitch.
- 7). Repeat this process until both players have only one soccer player and the goalkeeper left on the board. Look at the Super Strike rating of your player that is still on the pitch. This will show a red square in the goal indicating where your player hits the ball into the goal.
- 8). Compare that with the Super Save rating on the opposing goalkeeper's card. This shows the area in the goal where the keep saves the shot. If the red square on the Super Strike rating is in the same position as the red square of the goalkeeper's Super Save rating, then the shot is saved. If not, then it is a goal. If you wish, you can use your goalkeeper during the match; you can choose for him to attack or defend instead. However, this will mean that when the opposing player shoots at the goal, he will automatically score.
- 9). Count up the total cards of each player at the end of the game. The person who has won the most rounds is declared the winner.
