In order to feel better about yourself and other people you need to have sort of motivation. You need some inner fire. Otherwise if you are not motivated you simply are going to find it hard to feel good about who you are and if you don't feel good about who you are then how will you be able to feel good about other people you deal with on a daily basis? So let's look at some different ways in which you can motivate yourself.

A really important thing that you need to have in your life is a source or a place or something you can have as an anchor in your life. You need something that inspires you. So take a few moments of your time and think about what makes you happy. Think of a thing or a person at this very moment and see what happens. Does that person or thing bring a smile to your face when you think of them? If you answered yes, you just discovered who or what is your inspiration or anchor.

Express yourself and make an anthology. In other words put your emotions, how you feel in words. Get a journal and write down your feelings in a collection of poems, quotes, lyrics, etc. The words don't even have to be yours. As long as what you write down expresses how you feel and who you are. You can then go back to them in the future and it will help you be reminded of who you are and what humanity is all about. Little inspirational things like this help a person keep going.

If you are a person who has faith, then ground yourself in it. Don't give up on your religion, in fact turn to it often, because a person's religion and faith can offer someone a lot of hope. This is especially true during times in your life when you feel like you have nowhere to turn. So by having your faith, gives you the opportunity to be able to hand over your problems to someone greater than you.

Add comedy to your life and see the lighter side of life. Look at life's little bumps and grinds as learning experiences but also don't forget to try and find the humor in them as well. You can also get yourself in a lighter mood and feel better about yourself if you go out and get yourself a CD of one of your favorite stand up comedians and let yourself get immersed in it and laugh. Experiencing comedy is an extremely healthy way to spend time. Laughter is the best medicine, is not a joke.

Don't forget to tell your family and friends how much you love them, how much you care for them. It's one of the simplest acts that any human being can do for another. This not only will increase the level of how good they feel about themselves but will also fill your needs to feel better about yourself as well. There is nothing that can explain why it has such an impact on us, but to share your love and caring for others is a gift that should not be ignored.

Do something nice or helpful for someone you don't know. Make sure that whatever it is you do for this person that you mean it and that it is a selfless act. Ask for nothing in return except that this person in turn do something nice for someone else and tell them to instruct those people to do the same. If it's simply giving someone a sandwich who is hungry or volunteering somewhere it doesn't matter. Pay it forward as the movie said.

Smile. That's right smile, even if you don't feel like it. No excuse is good enough to not smile at least once a day. If you have to get in front of a mirror and practice smiling. Who cares what you look like when you smile, people don't even notice if your smile is genuine and means something. One smile at one lonely person on the street could make their day and if you get a smile in return, you will feel the impact on your heart immediately.
