Is Escalating Density Training Legit?

101 1
A lot of people wonder whether this apparently strange concept of training is legit.  The concept truly isn't that abnormal.

Allow me to explain it to you.  Your muscles do not know that they are getting worked to grow bigger.  All your muscles know is that they are moving against a resistance.  And if the resistance is stronger than what they're accustomed, they will need to grow larger and stronger to be able to handle it.

Adaptation is the only thing your muscles understand.

This is the main principle of Escalating Density Training.  Allow me to give you an example. On week one, you bench 15 reps of 200 lbs.  Your muscles then adapt to become ready for 15 reps of 200 pounds next week.

However, next week you do 20 reps of 200 pounds.  The same process occurs, your muscles strengthen to prepare for the same resistance next exercise.

Your muscles will have no choice but to grow stronger each time you up the reps.  When your muscles have adapted to the high amount of reps, you can increase the weight to force more adaptation.

Let me use an analogy we can all relate to.  If you know tanning, you'd know to start by building a base. After that you can slowly increase your exposure to the sun.  It's the same concept when working out.

However, the amount of increase depends on the base you developed.  Put Differently, you can only improve at the pace that your body is capable of.

This is a valuable lesson you're learning right now about effective exercise.  Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to incorporate this into their workout.

This is a real problem with a lot of training programs. They lack a system for raising work load. With Escalating Density Training, the whole premise of the system is on systematically increasing workload.
