How to Modify PSP Blue LEDs
- 1). Turn off your PSP and slide the back battery cover off of the device. Then lift the battery out of its compartment.
- 2). Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws on each corner of the battery compartment, the two screws on the top and bottom of the side of the PSP, and the single screw located in the middle of the bottom of the PSP.
- 3). Use your fingers to pry the faceplate gently off of the device. Then use the tip of your screwdriver to pry the rectangular button bar away from the bottom of the screen.
- 4). Use the tip of your screwdriver to pop the four tabs on each corner of the LCD screen. Lift the LCD screen up and unplug the two ribbon cables connected to the back of it. Set the screen aside.
- 5). Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the seven screws holding the plate over the motherboard. Once the screws are removed, lift up the plate and set it aside. Then lift the plastic triggers off the left and right sides of the device.
- 6). Use your wire cutters or scissors to cut three 3/5-inch lengths of your circuit wire. Then plug in your soldering iron and let it warm up for a couple of minutes.
- 7). Locate the ositive conductor on the right side of the motherboard. It is marked by two small holes just above the yellow plastic cylinder below the motherboard. Solder one end of a length of wire to the conductor and let it cool. Then solder the other end to the resistor.
- 8). Solder one end of the other two lengths of wires to your LED light. Then solder the ends of those wires to the resistor as well.
- 9). Use electrical tape to secure the resistor to the side of the motherboard and then insert one LED light each in the small cavity on the sides of the plastic triggers. Secure the LED lights with a dab of hobby glue.
