- 1). Select a person to be "It." That person gets the broom. It will be his job to tag people with the bushy end of the broom. Do not use the knob end of the broom as getting poked too hard could hurt.
- 2). Decide on a base. If you want to make the game more difficult, you can forgo the base completely. Otherwise, use something like a large tree or a rock. Base should not be too big, and you may wish to limit the amount of time someone can spend there.
- 3). Explain the rules to everyone. The person who is "It" tries to tag the other players with the broom. When a person is tagged, then they become part of "Its" team. Their job is to run after the other players and grab them. Once a player has been grabbed, the grabber shouts, "Broom Chaser!" The original "It," who has the broom, must run over and tag the person being held before they escape. If they are tagged with the broom they become part of "Its" team, but if they escape they are still free.
- 4). End the game when everyone has been tagged. The last person to be tagged becomes the new "It" if you wish to continue the game for another round.
