Hemorrhoids occur when the veins around the anus swell.
There are few types of hemorrhoids.
The distinction depends where the swelling occurs.
When the veins inside your anus swell, it is called an internal hemorrhoid.
This type of hemorrhoid usually does not hurt but bleeds painlessly.
On the other hand, a prolapsed hemorrhoid occurs when the swelling bulges outside the anus.
It usually goes back on its own or if not, one can push it back inside gently.
When the veins outside the anus swell, it is called an external hemorrhoid.
This type of hemorrhoid is usually itchy and painful.
Sometimes it also cracks and bleeds.
The most common symptom of hemorrhoid is a bulging in the anal area.
It usually is a lump that is tender located on the anus.
Another symptom is bleeding after every bowel movement, whether finding blood on the toilet paper or sometimes even on the toilet bowel.
Most often than not, people with hemorrhoids experience pain during passing stool or sometimes the pain is constant even when not in bowel movement when the hemorrhoid case is severe.
Hemorrhoids are caused by a couple of reasons.
It usually happens when there is an increased straining in the anal area.
This is because of sitting too long during a bowel movement and also because of straining during bowel movement due to constipation and diarrhea.
Other reasons are hereditary, obesity, pregnancy, lifting of heavy objects or other straining activities, being overweight and standing or sitting for a long period of time.
