What Happens in Each Ending of "Epic Mickey"?

Paint and Thinner

• Mickey initially enters the painting-world unarmed, but quickly discovers a magical paint brush that allows him to paint objects into existence and paint over fractured objects and enemies. In contrast to the ability to create objects with the paintbrush, the thinner brush erases objects and characters from existence. The paint and thinner brushes are the primary mechanism by which you are able to interact with the world. Your choices when interacting with characters will determine which game ending you will receive.
  
  

General Ending

• After fighting off the Blot’s minor form, Mickey reveals to Oswald that it was he who created the Blot by initially spilling thinner onto the painting of Oswald’s world. Oswald, acting out of rage and frustration, accidentally releases breaks the bottle holding all of the contained thinner and releases the true form of the Blot. Feeling responsible for what has happened to the world, Mickey gives up his heart to destroy the Blot. After seeing this action, Oswald decides to assist Mickey and together they defeat the Blot. After the Blot's defeat, Mickey’s heart floats to the ground and lands in Oswald’s hand.
  
  

Heartwarming Ending

• Oswald graciously hands Mickey’s heart back to him which grants Mickey the power to leave the painting-world. Upon his departure, the remnants of the Blob transform into paint and rain down upon the world. The world begins to heal as the paint rains down onto it and ultimately raining onto and reviving the petrified remains of Oswald’s girlfriend, Ortensia. Once outside of the painting world, the wizard Yen Sid seals the world off, but allows Mickey to view the painting world through a magical mirror. As Mickey periodically looks through to this world, he sees that the world is rebuilding and develops a brother-like relationship with Oswald. You can access this ending by primarily using your paintbrush while interacting with characters and creating quests, rather than the thinner.
  
  

Heartbreaking Ending

• With the Blot defeated, Oswald selfishly takes Mickey’s heart into himself and escapes the painting world. Outside of the painting, Oswald assumes the role of Mickey’s life and convinces the magician Yen Sid to seal off the painting world. The process of sealing off the painting world creates a window in which Mickey can view Oswald assuming his life while Mickey is forced to live out a life in a shattered and decaying world. You can view this ending by using the thinner brush more predominantly than the paintbrush when completing quests and interacting with characters.
