How to Get More Magical Items in Diablo 2 Expansion

    • 1). Run through the cow level. The cow level is a secret level that has a high drop rate for gems, charms, and magic items. To get to the cow level, place a Tome of Town Portal and Wirt's Leg into the Horadric Cube and then transmute them together. Wirt's Leg can be found in Tristram in Act One and the Horadric Cube is found in the Horadric Staff quest in Act Two. Once the two items are transmuted together in the Horadric Cube, a portal will appear to the cow level. In the cow level, the Cow King boss usually drops magic items when killed.

    • 2). Upgrade items in the Horadric Cube. The Horadric Cube can be used to create higher-quality gems and magic items by transmuting items together. Three gems of the same grade can be transmuted to create a gem that is one level higher in quality. Transmute three rings to receive a randomly selected magical amulet. Transmuting a magic sword with three chipped gems will create a random magic sword of a different magical type.

    • 3). Increase magic-find percentage. There are various charms, runes and gems that increase the chance of finding magical items. A character equipped with a 100-percent magic find has twice the chance of finding magical items.

    • 4). Kill high-level monsters. Monsters that are Enchanted, Champion, Unique or Super Unique have a greater chance of dropping magical items when killed. Bosses usually drop at least one magical item when killed. A character who is at least over level 45 should be able to kill Baal in the fifth act by themselves, and with a large magic-find percentage Baal usually drops three or more magical items.

    • 5). Download a drop mod. Blizzard, the creator of "Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction," does not endorse mods to enhance the game, but there is a large online modding community for Diablo 2. Various drop mods can be downloaded and installed to increase the chance of finding magical items. The Socket To 'Em mod modifies the game so that quill rats drop gems and runes for modifying magic armor and weapons.
