How to Make Stars Out of Pie Pans

104 1
    • 1). Gather materials. Group together the items needed for the stars. Several aluminum pie pans will suffice for the project. A marker or dry erase marker will suffice for the drawing of the stars. Heavy duty scissors are recommended as child-safe scissors may not be able to cut through the thicker boarder of the pie pan. A star template can be as simple as a graphic printed from a computer or the Internet.

    • 2). Prepare the star outline. There are two methods to using the star as a template. One method is to use the star template and the marker, draw out the stars on the pie pan. If you're hoping for larger stars (around three to four inches), you may be able to get two to three stars per pan. Smaller stars or stars of varying size should allow for more quantity per pan. Create as thin of an outline as possible so there is no black ink on the stars once they are cut out. Trace a line down the middle of the arms leading to the middle of the star.

    • 3). Cut the stars out and repeat. Using the scissors, remove the border from around the pan. Smooth the pan out as much as possible in case of any wrinkles and bumps in the foil. Cut out the stars and set them aside. Run a crease down the lines traced originally. Even consider pushing upward slightly allowing the star to slightly cave up. The stars can be decorated with additional features including glitter or costume jewels.
