How to Write an Impromptu Thesis

104 1
    • 1). Compose your thesis statement, or main idea, first. It should be a simple statement that includes the reason that you have for making it. Your reason usually follows a simple declarative statement that includes a phrase after the word "because."

    • 2). Outline your essay to make the writing process simpler. Your outline will support your thesis statement. Using thesis statement, jot down the notes that are associated with it. Think of examples and other fitting ideas that will tie the paper together. Ask yourself questions based upon the main topic. Timing is important, and an outline can be your guide.

    • 3). Be conscious of the time limit given to complete the essay. Give yourself time to review what you have written and make any grammatical and revision adjustments.

Every paragraph should begin with a sentence that follows one of the major points of your outline.

    • 4). Compose your essay in a manner that the reader can understand. Do not use vocabulary in the wrong context. Make points with your style of writing by using related examples and effectively address your thesis objective in an engaging manner. Transitions from sentence to sentence using phrases such as "in addition to," "while," "next" and "as a result" can assist with the flow of your paragraphs.

    • 5). Write a clear conclusion that summarizes all the main points of your thesis. Avoid using the same phrases when bringing the essay to a close.
