If you are speaking to a lay audience, you will need to use simpler language and make fewer points.

Write what you know--or research it heavily.
If you are asked to write 2,000 words on a Spanish coastal town and you have never left your home state, you will need to do extensive research.

Don't write a lot of fluff to take up space.
