Is Butter Healthy? 3 Things You Should Know

Finally, after much unfortunate ado over the decades, the answer is clear:

Butter is superior to most of the fats and oils that humans currently consume.

Yes.

It would be lovely if I could end this article here, and people would accept that butter is healthy.

To enjoy butter without fear as humans have for centuries is freedom indeed.

So many foods taste better with butter, don't they?

Sadly there is much damage to undo thanks to the bad science over the years, so people need information that will both convince and reassure.

Briefly, here are 3 things you should know as a start. Hopefully in time, with this in the back of your mind at the very least, you will eventually confidently use butter, not margarine, forevermore.

1. Nutritious

The nutrition profile for butter is outstanding.

With several critical vitamins and minerals in good quantity, notably vitamin A, D, K, and B12, butter is truly a star.

Research the importance of vitamin A and D in particular. Know that animal foods, like butter, are the best sources. The human body does NOT convert the carotene in vegetables and fruit efficiently into vitamin A for the body. Get retinol from animal foods for much of your A needs instead.

2. Cholesterol

If you haven't heard by now that cholesterol in food, believed to be a terrible thing by some for a long time, is in fact okay. You have to get some cholesterol from food for good health. Yes. Butter is a great source.

3. Natural Saturated Fat is Good

Probably one of the most sweeping changes in health advice lately, but not sweeping enough, is that natural saturated fat in real food is not a villain, and should be consumed. Studies done with hydrogenated oils, some of the worst fat sources ever created (yes, created by chemical processes), are partly responsible for the miscalculations that natural saturated fat, too, is bad.

What I wrote here may seem loopy to some people because it goes against the conventional ideas of what is healthy and what isn't for humans, but wisdom will hopefully win out and butter will be on and in your food again ... or just rebel even if you don't believe what I have written and enjoy it and see what happens to you.
