How to Keep Moss From Growing on the Driveway

    • 1). Trim branches, shrubs and trees that hang over the driveway and provide shade to the mossy areas. The more sunlight you can let in, the better chance you have of keeping moss away.

    • 2). Direct sprinklers and other water sources away from driveway. Keeping unnecessary moisture off the surface will discourage moss growth.

    • 3). Seal your driveway with a high-quality sealant to help prevent moss growth.

    • 4). Sweep the driveway weekly to disturb the roots of the moss before they become fully established. Use a stiff-bristled broom to sweep away any new signs of moss growth.

    • 5). Mix equal parts chlorine bleach and water in a garden sprayer. Spray down the areas of the driveway where moss tends to grow with a liberal coating of the bleach solution. Allow the solution to dry onto the driveway. Repeat this treatment at the first sign of moss to kill it and prevent future growth.
