How to Glue a Wooden Puzzle Together

104 6
    • 1). Purchase a piece of thick matting the size of your puzzle. Make sure the matting is strong enough to hold the weight of the puzzle without bending or buckling.

    • 2). Construct one corner of the puzzle and place it on top of a plastic bag. Spread an even layer of glue over the top of the puzzle, making sure that glue gets into the cracks between pieces. Check to see that all pieces fit snugly and that the vertical and horizontal sides are not crooked.

    • 3). Allow to dry for an hour and then apply a second coat if needed. Continue the process by constructing another portion of the puzzle, preferably a portion with an edge. Connect this portion to the already glued portion and cover with glue. Continue until the puzzle is finished, constantly checking to make sure that the sides meet at ninety degree angles.

    • 4). Cover the matting with strong wood glue or contact cement and place the glued puzzle on top of it. Trim any portion of the mat that protrudes beyond the edge of the puzzle. Allow to dry before moving.

    • 5). Place the puzzle, with mat, inside any standard picture frame. You now have a beautiful, solid puzzle that should last for years and can be displayed in your home or office.
