StarCraft 2 Rush Strategy Guide

Rushing your opponent is a common strategy in StarCraft 2 and each race has a different way of doing it.
This article is going to look at the most effective StarCraft 2 rush strategy for each race.
Terran The Ghost Nuke rush is a great way to take out your opponent's economy in one move but unlike in the first StarCraft you can't use nukes to decimate their entire base, they're not as powerful as before.
This is why the best StarCraft 2 rush strategy with nukes involves taking out your enemy's work force then sending in the army which you'll simultaneously be preparing to take out their army while they're scrambling to replenish their probes, workers, etc.
Use a standard build order with Marauders into Thors and Tanks or into an air based build so you can quickly get in after enforcing the economic damage.
Once your factory is up, build 2 Ghost Academies so you can have multiple nukes at once and an endless stream rather than waiting to train another with just one academy.
Train the Ghost Cloaking skill before even beginning your first ghost because it's essential that you can get into your opponent's base without detection.
If possible get additional Ghost energy to enable you to remain cloaked for longer.
Obviously stay away from enemy units which can see cloaked units like Overseers and turrets.
As long as you can sneak to the back of their base you'll be alright.
Some maps enable you to get behind their minerals from the main path but sometimes are up on a cliff, requiring you to use your Orbital Command to scan the area and quickly cast Nuke.
Remember that once you've inflicted the "economic damage" to keep the pressure on by attacking with your army.
The Terran StarCraft 2 rush strategy options also include the reaper rush and the 11 starport rush which will both be mentioned again at the end of this article.
Protoss A major Protoss StarCraft 2 rush strategy involves the Void Ray which is a unit which you can easily get quickly in the game and is effective because in most games if you can build quickly enough to tech to void rays it's likely your opponent won't have the anti-air capabilities to defend against you.
It's important to macro and continue to send additional Void Rays to reinforce and win the battle.
The build is 10/10 supply, build a Pylon.
10/18, build a Gateway.
10/18, build an Assimilator and when it's finished put 3 probes on gas.
10/18, send probe to scout unit's location if 2V2 map.
13/18, when Gateway is done, make Cybernetics Core.
14/18, when Core is done, build Starport.
When the Starport is done, immediately begin building your first Void Ray and set the rally to your opponent's base.
Put Chrono Boost on the Starport while the Void Ray is in production for a 50% boost.
Wait til you have at least 2, possibly 3 Void Rays to take out your opponent's base in full.
It's important to wall off your base, typically keeping a Zealot in the one open slot so that your opponent can't get in and scout because again if they know what you're up to they're more likely to be able to defend against it.
Zerg The StarCraft 2 Zerg rush strategy involves Speedlings/Zerglings (Zerglings require a Metabolic Boost).
Speedlings should be a part of your game every time you play as Zerg because they inflict serious economic damage, defend your base well, and are the fastest moving units so they're great for any use you can think of.
This StarCraft 2 Zerg rush strategy involves the following build order.
10 - Spawning Pool.
10 - Extractor.
10 - Overlord.
13 - Queen.
Put 3 drones on gas once the Spawning Pool is started as you'll need 100 for the Metabolic Boost.
Hotkey your hatchery so that you're constantly churning out Zerglings and also hotkey your Queen so she can cast "Spawn Larva" on your hatchery, thus keeping unit production high.
It's a good idea to split your Zerglings into two or more groups for better swarming/flanking enemies but also to lure out the army with one and sending in another group to go into their undefended town and quickly dismantle their work force.
If you have a lot of Zerglings or their army isn't very bolstered yet you can skip the minerals and focus on their army, just be sure to not get lured into any "choke points".
Ideally you can fight in the open where you can surround your opponent's units.
Zerglings are the fastest ground units in the game, so use them to chase down scouts and retreating units after failed attacks.
Send your Zerglings IN FRONT of the retreating unit so that they're surround him rather than chase him.
Most Terran opponents and occasionally Protoss will wall off their bases in which case you'll need Banelings to blow holes in their walls to get in.
