How to Reap the Benefits of Alkaline Water and Food

We have been consuming purified, mineral and distilled types of water just to make sure that we get to drink potable ones and not be harmed by certain unfiltered chemicals from tap water; however, I've recently heard a lot about Alkaline water and food. I heard that they say it's good for us, but what exactly does it do and how does it differ from all the other types of "clean" water we drink?

Most of the bottled or purchased water are said to be acidic and shift the pH balance of our body. This causes the body to be acidic as well, and omes the root cause of several health issues. Alkaline is said to do the opposite – shifting the pH balance back to the desired level, whether it be water or food. It helps neutralize acids and remove toxins. In short, in alkaline water, it serves its true purpose – a great cleanser, among other things.

Other Benefits of Alkaline In Our Diet

- Better Hydration compared to regular water - If alkalizing water goes through an ionizer, the hydration value increases to 6 times, increasing mental alertness and help soften the skin.

- Improved food taste - The ionization brings out the taste and food flavors.

- Reduced risk for cancer - With a less acidic environment, cancer cells in the body will have a slower growth rate.

Don't these just equate to a healthier and happier lifestyle? We do drink the water we need everyday right? Why not switch to the better water alternative? It still is water. If we decide to do so, then how do we get it? You may try some alkaline drops and tablets or alkaline water machines and filters if you want a more convenient and instant way to obtain alkaline water; however, there is also a budgeted way to make alkaline water even at the comfort of your home as early as now. Here's how:

1. Fill a glass jug with drinking/ potable water.

2. Leave some space to easily shake.

3. Add baking soda and shake to mix.

4. Test the water on a pH test strip. It should reach an 8.5 to 9.0 pH level.

5. Keep on adding baking soda and test until it reaches the target pH level.

6. Refrigerate and shake before serving and drinking.
