How to Hook Up My Laptop to My PS3 on a Shared Server

    On the PC

    • 1). Click "Start" and open "Control Panel." Select "Network and Sharing Center" from inside the control panel.

    • 2). Click "Change advance sharing settings" in the left column. Turn on "Network Discover," "Printer and File Sharing" and "Public Folder Sharing." Click "Choose Media Streaming Options..." at the bottom of the window.

    • 3). Find the PS3 from the list of devices; this can be verified by double-clicking an "Unknown Device" and comparing the MAC address to the MAC address on the PS3. Select "Allowed" from the pull-down menu for the PS3 device. Selecting "Allow All" at the top of the page will allow you to share your multimedia content with all devices on your network.

    On the PS3

    • 1). Turn on the PS3 console and your TV. Log in to your PS3 account.

    • 2). Move left 3 times using the PS3 controller to get to the video player controls on the PS3.

    • 3). Press down on the controller stick until you are highlighting the laptop you are streaming video from. Press "X" to select the laptop and choose a file to watch. Press "X" once you find the file to watch it on your TV.
