Terravista Tours is one of the best known tour operators in Paraty, RJ.
Located in the historic district, the agency offers several scheduled daily tours, including schooner rides, as well as options subject to availability.
Schooner Tours with Terravista:
Several tours of the Paraty Bay are available aboard the Soberano da Costa ("Coast Sovereign"), a sturdy boat with a capacity for 68 passengers which was once used to transport salt and meat in northern Brazil.
Tour itineraries vary. They include islands - Ilha Comprida, Ilha do Algodão - and beaches, such as Praia Vermelha, Praia da Lula, Praia da Conceição, and Saco do Juru-mirim.
Terravista works in a partnership with the local boatmen's association.
Tours depart daily from the Paraty port .
Van Tour to Trindade:
Trindade, a district with pristine beaches and trails which is home to a traditional fisherman's community, is a favorite day trip from Paraty.
Terravista's Trindade van tour leaves daily at 11am and returns at about 4:30pm. Trindade is located about 16 miles from Paraty's historic center.
Waterfall Tour:
There are beautiful waterfalls where you can slide on the rocks and bathe in natural pools near Paraty. Terravista offers waterfall tours in Jeeps or vans which also stop by local alambiques, or cachaça distilleries, and visit a bromeliad and orchid exhibit at a nearby flora.
The tour departs daily in the morning.

Inquire about a tour of caiçara (local fisherman) villages, guided historic district tours, horseback tours on quarter horses, diving tours with instructors, boat rentals, and a two-kilometer hiking tour of Caminho do Ouro, or the Gold Trail, used in colonial times to bring gold from Minas Gerais to Paraty, where it was sent to Portugal.
