Directions for Cutting Up a Chicken
- 1). Place the chicken, breast up, on a counter. Insert a sharp paring knife or boning knife in between where the leg meets the breast and slice about halfway down.
- 2). Pull the leg away from the breast until the bone pops out of the joint. Cut the leg off the rest of the way underneath the joint.
- 3). Separate the leg from the thigh by slicing the knife in the middle of the joint between the thigh and the leg. Repeat this process with the other thigh and leg.
- 4). Feel for the breastbone of the chicken along the center and slice along each side of the breastbone, cutting the breast meat off of the bone.
- 5). Twist the wing off each breast piece. Slice each breast piece crosswise into as many pieces as needed.
