102 34
With winter upon us, it's time to forget about pumpkin spice and warm apple cider. Put down the fall flavors and cozy up next to the fireplace with your friends and enjoy delicious, warm winter cocktails to place on your leather coasters. Winter cocktails are all about drinks that will soothe you. Focus on classic winter flavors like peppermint, gingerbread, and vanilla. Here are some recipes to help you forget about the cold:

Hot Toddy - Probably everyone's favorite winter drink and definitely worthy of a leather coaster. Coat the bottom of an Irish coffee mug with honey. Then add in 1 ounce of brandy, rum, or whiskey with the juice of a quarter lemon. Make a separate cup of hot black or green tea (or your favorite tea will do) and pour the steaming tea into the mug. Stir up the ingredients and enjoy this nice hot cocktail.

Irish Coffee - This is a classic and simple drink to make. It also happens to be another warm cocktail which is always a nice treat during those cold winter nights. Better yet, this will be one strong pick-me-up in the morning. Combine strong, black coffee with 1 and 1/2 ounces of the best Irish whiskey. Add one teaspoon of brown sugar and top it off with some whip cream.

Frostini - If you like the idea of coffee and liquor, then this is one cocktail you'll most certainly enjoy drinking. This drink is creamy and smooth and combines Starbucks liqueur and peppermint schnapps. Combine one part of Starbucks Cream Liqueur, one part Starbucks Coffee Liqueur, and ¼ part peppermint schnapps into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a frozen martini glass. Garnish it with a mint leaf and serve on your favorite set of leather coasters.

Eggnog - Nothing says winter or the holidays quite like eggnog. This one is a little more involved but well worth the effort. Combine 4 cups of milk, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a saucepan. Heat over the lowest setting for about 5 minutes. Slowly bring the mixture to a boil. In a large bowl, mix 12 egg yolks and 1 and a 1/2 cups of sugar. Whisk until fluffy and then add in the milk mixture and whisk again. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over medium heat, constantly stirring until thick. Let it cool for about an hour and then mix in 2 and 1/2 cups of light rum, 4 cups of light cream, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg. Refrigerate overnight before serving.

With a little bit of effort, and a few bottles of alcohol, you can easily prepare these yummy cocktails. Don't forget to serve them on your favorite leather coasters to make it a truly exquisite experience. Stay warm!
