The Power of Your True Self

103 27
We each have a river of inner wisdom we can tap into at any time.
Some people are more aware of this than others.
You may be familiar with the saying of having a 'gut feeling' about something.
On the level of energy where all things are connected there is a subtle energy system within us.
There are seven subtle energy centres located vertically in a line through our body from the crown of the head down through the forehead, throat, heart, stomach, sacrum and coccyx.
Each centre, known as a chakra, correlates to an earth element, colour and has its own unique characteristics.
They are also each associated with different parts and functions of the body and various aspects of our personality, character and being.
Energy circulates downwards, through the energy channels and around the body.
The energy centre located around our stomach relates to our sense of self, who we are, self assertion, wholeness, energy, activity, abundance and the shaping of our being.
It is from this that the term 'gut feeling' arises, describing the feeling we are receiving from our true self.
So what is our true self? Whether we choose to believe it or not we are all connected through universal consciousness.
This higher consciousness is often termed as God, Divine Spirit or many others.
The famous Tao de Ching describes it as the nameless, formless substance from which everything is manifested.
In yoga we call it prana, the life force.
The name you attach to it is irrelevant, the fact is it exists and sometimes it is better to just accept what is rather than try to name or label it.
Indeed trying to label it takes away from its essence.
We are born from this formless energy into matter or form and in our case a human being.
We live, breathe and then when we die we return to formless energy.
The constant cycle of life and death.
Despite the fact that it is our birthright to utilise this higher energy in whatever way we wish most people are blissfully unaware of its power and potential.
Your true self is that aspect of you which is always connected to higher consciousness, to this higher energy.
Considering this, your true self is that which is wholesome, good, right and true.
That has your best interests at heart and wants only the best for you.
By connecting with your true self you are connecting with higher consciousness and therefore only good and positive experiences can come to you.
The best way to connect with your true self is through the avenue of your breath.
Your breath is your connection to life.
Sit or lie in a quiet space and close your eyes.
Let your breath fall into its natural rhythm and focus on the inhale and exhale as you breathe.
After a couple of minutes you will notice you feel calmer and more relaxed.
Place the palms of your hands across your tummy and feel the gentle rise and fall of your abdomen as you breathe.
Take your focus to your navel and allow yourself to become immersed in yourself.
Become aware of your own energy.
The navel chakra, known as Manipura, is associated with fire and the colour yellow.
As you breathe, focusing on the rise and fall of your abdomen, begin to feel warmth through your hands.
Feel this warmth and imagine a yellow light spreading through your fingertips, up your arms and circulating around your body until you can envision your body encircled by a golden glow of warm yellow light.
It may take a few attempts for you to experience this but with persistence, practice and patience you will find you can sit and easily imagine this as you place your hands over your navel.
You are now fully connected to your true self.
Allow yourself to experience thoughts and feelings that come up.
Ask yourself questions and sit patiently, focusing on your breathing, and await any responses.
It might be that you experience feeling more than thoughts or vice versa.
Everyone's experience is different but the point is to allow yourself this strong connection to your true self.
It can often feel strange to begin with because it is almost as though you are trying to connect to something that is separate from you.
You may feel disparate.
This is a normal feeling.
As you experience your true self you will begin to become more and more familiar with the connection until you realise that you are a whole and this is the part of you that is connected to higher consciousness and ultimately everyone else! Your true self does just what it says on the tin! It will reveal the truth about you.
If you are unsure about something in your life, need to make a decision, want to find an answer, decide a different path, whether something is right or true for you, simply connect with your true self and ask the question.
It sounds ridiculous because you are just asking yourself right? It is that simple.
YOU hold all the answers to every question you have and by tapping into this unlimited resource that is your constant connection to higher consciousness you will reveal the answers or guidance you seek.
Remember this is your true self, the best of yourself and that which is connected to higher consciousness - what comes from this connection is infinite potential.
Over time having an inner knowing of your true self becomes more natural to where you just experience a feeling, often that 'gut feeling', or an inner knowing that something is just right for you.
Sometimes you will notice a sign, be open to receiving both the internal thoughts and things that come to you externally.
Its a little like having your own personal guide.
Start to utilise your own divine power and energy, thats what we are given it for! We are meant to live a happy, healthy, fulfilled and abundant life.
Start living yours!
