Master Combos

• While it's easy to cruise through the first few matches with little more than punching and some grapple moves, later on in the game you will need to know how to string together combos if you are to have any hope of surviving. Not only do combos help prevent the computer from getting any hits in on you, but they work to build up your Blazin' meter more quickly, allowing you to unleash crippling finishers that can knock almost every character out cold.
  
  While most of the characters have their own set of combos, there are some universal combos that can be performed by anybody. For example, the combo "Cash Money" is done by Irish-whipping the other fighter into the ropes and then performing a running attack as they run back to you. If you replace the running attack with a running grapple, you perform the "Ghetto Thuggin'" combo.
  
  

Cheat Codes

• If you don't feel like playing the whole game through time and again to unlock every available artist, there are several cheat codes that allow you to unlock them almost immediately. For example, to unlock Ludacris on PlayStation 2, use the code: Circle, Circle, Circle, Square, Triangle. Likewise, on the GameCube the code to unlock Ludacris is: X,X,X,Y,B. Remember that on both platforms you have to hold down all the shoulder buttons before entering the codes.
  
  

Know Everyone's Strengths and Weaknesses

• Each of the characters in Def Jam Vendetta has their own distinct fighting style that highlight both strengths and weaknesses. For example, if you find that your play style is better suited for a slower but more powerful fighter, selecting Ludacris may not be your best bet. If you are a player who relies on speed, Funkmaster Flex won't do you much good.
  
  It is important to know every fighter's strengths and weaknesses for more than personal fighting preference. Because you will be facing off with about a dozen of the characters in the game on each play through, becoming familiar with their weaknesses is just as important as knowing your character's strengths.
