Review:

I'm a serious gamer and I own both PS3 and the Xbox360. This review is mostly about the PS3 keypad and is intended for gamers whom are curious about this device and its many pros and cons.

The problem is that the keypad is not integrated with the controller. That way it can't run off the controller's battery. The only connection between the PS3 controller and the keypad is the physical connection. The keypad needs to be paired with the console like all of Sony's accessories. The buttons on the keypad are not backlit which makes them hard do see, especially in the dark.

The keypad itself is mounted at the top of the controller, which makes it really hard to reach. You have to rearrange your hand to type and it's both uncomfortable and inconvenient. The 360 keypad is bottom mounted and that way is much more accessible and easier to use

Many people assume that the keypad is mounted at the top to reach the USB port, but that's a big misunderstanding. The keypad is an independent device and has its own source of power. Why it was put at such an inconvenient place remains a mystery.
Overall looking, I would not recommend this product. On the 360 there is at least some motivation to type since the MSN Messenger can be used on that console. Besides from the plain and boring PSN messages and the horrid web browsing, there is not much use for this keypad. I myself prefer voice chat and that can replace all of the keypads choirs with ease, making it an obsolete and outdated product.

I rate the Sony PS3 Wireless Keypad only 5 out of 10
