Are You A TRANSPARENT Leader?

103 46
Those of us who have spent significant periods of time involved in various aspects of leadership, including performance, identifying, qualifying, training, developing and consulting, realize that one of the greatest challenges to bringing an individual up through the various stages and phases, is that, being an effective leader is more than merely doing certain activities by rote, but rather also handling the large number of variables and more vague aspects of leading.
Our most effective leaders soon come to understand that everything they do (or don't) has both actual as well as perceived impacts and realities.
One of these is focusing on getting others to trust and believe in the individual who is serving in a leadership position.
Therefore, I recommend that each individual consider the question, Are You A TRANSPARENT Leader? 1.
Talk openly and honestly to others, and fully listen to their concerns, and address them in a logical manner.
This must not be an insincere or rhetorical behavior, but rather demonstrate one's commitment to absolute integrity, by committing to consistency telling the truth.
2.
Others will avoid truly paying attention to what you say unless it is directly (and indirectly) relevant to them, and their concerns/ priorities.
They must feel that you care deeply, and that you are a reliable and honorable individual.
3.
Only by maintaining a thoroughly positive and helpful attitude will you be able and willing to persist and persevere, and maintain the needed momentum to achieve something meaningful.
4.
Are your ideas and focus truly needs - oriented? Are you willing and able to clearly explain why your approach is a necessary one? 5.
Stand up openly for your beliefs, and strive to create a fulfilling, meaningful, effective sustainable system.
6.
Pursue priority - based planning that looks at, and evaluates contingencies, alternatives, and getting it done, is the preferred way to consider alternatives and propose programs that make sense.
7.
Always articulate openly with absolute integrity.
Allow others in, so that they will be motivated and moved, to take the best course of action.
8.
Avoid the tendency to make empty promises or propose ideas and programs that do not serve the best interests of the group and its stakeholders.
Rather, consistently be rational, reasonable, and reach out in an attempt to connect, and openly explain your overlying rationale.
9.
It is always important to remember that being truly empathetic, and doing so with a high level of energy, will get others to pay more attention.
Would you like to be considered an enigmatic leader? 10.
Never lie! No excuses or exclusions! 11.
Don't procrastinate, blame, avoid or wait for others to commit! Take timely action.
Others will never trust someone for very long until and unless they are consistently openly with everyone they come into! Are you (willing to be) a TRANSPARENT Leader?
