- 1). Speak to Qual-Kehk after defeating Nihlathak. He will give you the "Rite of Passage" quest and warn you that must prove yourself worthy to the Ancients.
- 2). Take your waypoint to the Glacial Trail and fight your way to the Frozen Tundra and then to the Ancient's Way.
- 3). Locate the waypoint in Ancient's Way, then look for the entrance to the Arreat Summit.
- 4). Make a Town Portal before going through the entrance to the Arreat Summit.
- 5). Ensure that you are ready for battle. You should be well-stocked on potions and have your best equipment. If you are a summoner character, such as a Druid or Necromancer, summon your most powerful minions. You also might want to bring along a well-equipped mercenary.
- 6). Click on the Altar of Heavens once your preparations are complete. After a short speech, the three statues around the altar will come to life and attack you.
- 7). Defeat the Ancients. They are essentially barbarians and, as such, use barbarian skills.
One Ancient uses Whirlwind, a spinning attack that inflicts heavy damage per second. Another Ancient uses Leap Attack, a long-range attack that deals heavy damage and is unlikely to miss. The final Ancient uses Double Throw, a ranged attack, and Shout, which increases the defense of that Ancient and his allies. - 8). Keep moving to prevent the Ancients from surrounding you. Use your potions generously, especially mana potions, otherwise you might be unable to use your abilities at a critical moment.
- 9). Keep an eye on your mercenary, healing him if needed, or, if you are a summoner, keep summoning creatures.
