Eye Care for Adults :

Two common fallacies about eye check ups are that if you can see fine, you don't need an examination by an ophthalmologist and that vision screenings are just eye examination by a different name. A thorough eye examination is recommended for all adults above age of 40 years on regular basis.

The Common eye problems in adults are :
  1. Computer vision syndrome.
  2. Cataract.
  3. Glaucoma.
  4. Diabetic retinopathy.

Computer Vision Syndrome :-

Eyestrain has been reported with most computer users. Referred to as Computer Vision Syndrome or Computer Stress Syndrome, it involves the manifestation of variety of symptoms such as eye strain, headache, and may at times be indicated by indirect symptoms such as neck, shoulder, back and wrist pains, general fatigue and decreased visual efficiency.

Cataract :-

The term cataract is used to describe the clouding of the natural lens of the eye. The vision dims because the cataract prevents light from passing beyond the lens and focusing on the retina.

Glaucoma :-

Glaucoma a leading cause of blindness in the world, especially  for older people. However visual loss is preventable or stabilized with early diagnosis and treatment. Glaucoma is a condition of the eye where the optic nerve is damaged. The optic nerve carries images to the brain, which are then perceived as vision. Minute nerve fibres from various parts of the retina join to form the optic nerve.

Diabetic Retinopathy :-

Diabetic retinopathy is a potentially blinding complication of diabetes that damages the eyes retina. It affects 80 to 90%  of all patients diagnosed with diabetes.

  5.  Check posture of your from time to time to reduce neck, shoulder and wrist pain.
  6. Keep wrist straight while typing and not on supported sharp edge.
  7. Use artificial taers to lubricate your eyes periodically, prefer the use of preservative free tears.
