If you choose to study a hospitality course you could become, among other things, a hotel general manager. Your responsibilities would be to direct everything related in the operation and financial result of the property. You would make standards for personnel administration and performance, service to patrons, room rates, advertising, publicity and food selection. You could also become a hotel clerk where your responsibilities would be to perform an array of services for the hotel guests, such as guest check-in and check-out, assigning rooms and answering inquiries to hotel services.
Finding a job as a meeting and convention planner is also an option where you would plan meetings and special events of various sizes. You would coordinate logistics such as budgets, speakers, entertainment, transportation, facilities, technology, equipment, logistical requirements, printing, food and beverage and other related issues. Another exciting choice would be a job as a maitre d'. You would find yourself as head waiter assigning customers to their tables, making advance reservations, overseeing all parts of the dining room experience of patrons and making sure all waiters are doing their jobs thoroughly.
As an executive chef you would oversee all kitchen activity such as menu creation and staff management. You would take care of food surpluses and leftovers and track the popularity of various dishes, estimate customer food consumption, test cooked foods by tasting them and smelling them and create special dishes and recipes. You could also choose to become a gaming dealer. Your responsibilities would be to operate table games such as craps, blackjack and roulette, provide dice and dispense cards to players. You would also be in charge of determining winners, calculating and paying winning bets and collecting losing bets.
