And if and when we are rejected by the person we love, or who has loved us, we are horribly hurt and feel let down.

This is the reason, why we do not necessarily 'fall in love' with someone whose company we adore.
He or she does not appeal to the subconscious level of the mind! Therefore the only effective and 'logical' approach to take when you fail to get your ex back, is to appeal to the subconscious mind, which in any case is the ruling mind, overpowering the logical mind, nearly all the time.
This approach is so critical that it can be the only factor responsible for success or failure to get your ex back.
Do you remember why your ex fell in love with you in the first place? Why your ex chased you to become part of his or her life? The reason is because you appealed to his or her subconscious mind.
Why not get back your old self and re-appeal to his or her subconscious mind all over again?
