    • 1). Place your left-hand ring finger on the third fret of the fifth string. Make sure to place the index finger, and all subsequent fingers, in the middle or right side of the fret. This will provide solid tone and sustain when strumming the chord.

    • 2). Position your left-hand middle finger on the second fret of the fourth string.

    • 3). Leave the third string open.

    • 4). Place your left-hand index finger on the first fret of the second string.

    • 5). Leave the first string open.

      Strum the top five strings to produce the open C chord. Refer to the example as necessary. Make sure you do not hit the sixth string when strumming the C chord, as this will produce an undesirable tone in the chord.
