How to Handle Hay After a Flood
- 1). Gather the hay out of the water.
- 2). Untie or cut the strings that hold the hay bale together.
- 3). Spread the hay out, using a rake, on a flat dry area that receives a good amount of sun exposure.
- 4). Turn the hay over with a pitchfork regularly to allow all sides of the hay to dry.
- 5). Sort through the hay to look for and remove any mold.
- 6). Gather the dry hay up into bundles and tie with baling string.
