- 1). Visit your local sporting goods store. Look for a tent in the same area that they keep water goggles, floatation devices and beach umbrellas. Some stores may carry beach tents in the camping area. However, keep in mind that a beach tent is different than a camping tent. Many styles of beach tents have an open front and they are not as sturdy as camping tents.
- 2). Search online. Type "beach tent" into your search engine's search box. Many different choices pop up ranging in price from $25 to $80. Read the manufacturer's descriptions for product details and customer reviews to find out what other people thought of them.
- 3). Ask fellow beach-goers where they purchased their beach tents. Ask how many people fit comfortably in the beach tent, how easy it is to set up and whether there is a feature they wish their beach tent had that it does not, such as SPF fabric or stakes for extra stability.
- 4). Visit garage sales in the spring. A used beach tent is often as good as a new beach tent. Ask to set up the beach tent if it is not already set up. Inspect it for any tears in the fabric or broken parts.
