- 1). Double-click on the "Computer" icon on your desktop. If this icon is absent from your desktop, click the Start button and select "Computer" from the main menu. An Explorer window listing your available drives and devices will open.
- 2). Move your mouse cursor over the icon for the drive you wish to scan and right-click. A drop-down menu will appear.
- 3). Select "Properties" from the drop-down menu. The "Properties" menu will appear in the foreground.
- 4). Select the "Tools" tab at the top of the "Properties" window.
- 5). Click the "Check Now" button in the Error-Checking section of the "Properties" window.
- 6). Select which options you wish the disk scan to include from the popup window and click the "Start" button.
