Norman is the home of the main campus of the University of Oklahoma, approximately 15 miles south of Oklahoma City. Although it's a large town in a suburban area, Norman has some campgrounds with cabins, and they're 30 minutes or less from downtown. One is a state park, and the others are privately owned. - Situated 13 miles east of Norman, Lake Thunderbird State Park has eight unfurnished cabins along the lake. The park also has 200 RV sites, including 30 are that full hook-ups. The cabins are close to restroom facilities and showers. The park also has two marinas, nine boat ramps and a beach for swimming. Other activities include deer and waterfowl hunting in specified areas, water skiing, fishing, hay rides, horseback riding, a playgrounds and an archery range. The park has a restaurant, nature center and covered picnic areas for groups. Nature and children's programs are also available. Campers can rent canoes, tubes, horses and paddle boats.

405-360-3572 - The Oklahoma City East KOA is approximately a 25-minute drive north of Norman, and offers cabin rentals for guests. The cabins can accommodate up to four people. They have heating and air conditioning, and are conveniently located near the campground's restrooms, showers and swimming pool. Linens are not provided, and the cabins are smoke-free. The Oklahoma City East KOA also has a lodge where visitors can stay, as well as camping sites for RVs and tents. In addition to the pool, recreational activities include a walking trail, and volleyball and badminton courts. Bikes are available for rent. Golf courses and lakes that provide fishing and boating are in the area.

koa.com - Quail Ridge is 25 miles east of Norman in Tecumseh. It was originally a hunting facility only, but now has cabins and a bunkhouse where guests can stay. The two cabins can sleep up to four people, while the bunkhouse can accommodate up to 20. The cabins have heat and air conditioning, showers and kitchenettes. The bunkhouse has a wood stove, a fully equipped kitchen and three showers. In addition to 500 acres for hunting, the property has a pavilion that seats up to 50 people and includes a P.A. system, as well as a bird-cleaning facility and a 13-station sporting clay course. It also has four dog kennels. Groups are welcome.
