Do you find yourself planning a special Christmas without the kids or looking for an idea or two to celebrate with that special someone? There are plenty of places and ways to have a romantic Christmas in Memphis, from a simple stroll through the beautiful Collierville Town Square to cocktails in the lobby of The Peabody Memphis hotel while you gaze at its beautiful Christmas lights.

The Peabody Memphis Hotel
The Peabody Memphis hotel is one of the more romantic spots in the city, so of course it lands on a list of where to have a romantic Christmas in Memphis.

The hotel's charming lobby is one of the great spots in the city to unwind with a cocktail and people-watch. Add Christmas music that is sometimes sung by choir groups and carolers to the setting that includes a massive tree and lights throughout, and you have a recipe for Christmas romance. If it's not too chilly take the elevator to the rooftop and look down at the city glowing in all its nighttime glory.

Downtown Carriage Ride
Many cities offer carriage rides, but that doesn't mean the variety offered in Downtown Memphis isn't worth your time. Many of the carriages of Carriage Tours of Memphis are decorated for the holidays as they carry couples and families along the Memphis streets. Spots along the Main Street Mall are decorated and Court Square is always lit for the season. A carriage ride along those peaceful lights snuggled under a blanket with a special someone is a great way to brighten your season.

Stroll Collierville's Historic Town Square
It might be out in the far eastern suburbs of Memphis, but Collierville's historic Town Square goes all out every Christmas season.

The buildings lining the square are well lit as are the many trees throughout the park, gazebo and historic train depot. There is a large Christmas tree that sits on one side of the Square's park that seems to always have parents posing their children in front of for pictures. Stop by Square Beans for a coffee or hot chocolate.

Stroll Overton Square
In just a couple of years what had been a quiet former entertainment district in Midtown Memphis has been reborn into a lively center of restaurants, bars and theaters. Overton Square has so much going on now, that just walking the streets and watching everyone is half the fun. And this Christmas the Square is all decked out for the season with lights and a large tree that sits at the corner of Madison Avenue and Cooper Street. Take a few extra minutes to stroll through the Square after catching one of the Christmas-themed shows being performed at one of the district's theaters.

Ice Skate at the Memphis Zoo
SunTrust Zoo Lights features plenty of Christmas lights and fun in the evening, and one of the best ways to enjoy time with a loved one is to take your turn around the temporary ice rink set up in the zoo. Yes, there are bound to be plenty of children running around, but that doesn't mean the moment will be any less romantic.
