We all know that exercising can help you lose fat, improve your posture, reduce risk of various diseases, and make you stronger and more physically able.
However, this doesn't give you a license to exercise as much as you want.
It can be risky for your health.
In this article I want to talk about the dangers of exercising too much.
I hope that what I write will help you avoid injury and maintain your health.
Exercise is like a medicine If there's one thing that I want you to take from this article it's this simple fact: exercising is like taking a medication.
You don't take all the pills at once and "shock" yourself into health.
You follow a prescription which instructs you to take the medication gradually, in doses.
If you follow the prescription, you should feel better, if not, bad things may happen.
The same goes for exercising, which is largely considered even healthier than many medications.
If you do it in a sensible, gradual, and controlled manner, you will reap the benefits.
If you exercise too much, you may do more harm than good.
You may seriously jeopardize your health.
What are the possible dangers of over exercising? First, there is the matter of basic fatigue.
You may train too hard and not have energy left to conduct your day to day life.
Second, you won't give your muscles enough time and rest to recover from your workouts.
Muscles actually repair themselves between workouts but they need to be at rest to do so.
This is why it's recommended that you don't train the same muscles day after day.
It is simply counterproductive.
Third, training too much may place undue strain on your muscles, tendons, and joints.
This can lead to pain, tears, inflammation, soreness, and other injuries.
Should any of these injuries occur, you may be unable to properly train for weeks or even months.
You will undo all the hard work you've put into your workouts and have very little to show for it.
The best way to exercise is to do so in a process of gradual increases.
You should push yourself hard in every workout but you should also expand your limits gradually and in a sensible fashion.
Your body can take a lot of strain.
However, it is also the most valuable possession you will ever have.
So, treat it with care and respect.
