    Stir Fry

    • Stir fry is one of the most versatile methods of cooking a family meal. Make it as simple or as elaborate as you like, and it's ideal for using up leftover meats and odd vegetables. Chop meat, like chicken, pork or shrimp, into bite-sized pieces. Do the same with any vegetables that you enjoy. Quickly fry the meat pieces in a wok or large frying pan. Add the vegetable pieces after the meat is cooked through. Cook the vegetables until they are tender, but still crisp; then top the mixture with soy or teriyaki sauce to taste. Serve the stir fry with brown rice.

    Sub Night

    • Purchase foot-long submarine sandwich buns, an assortment of sliced meats and cheeses and bagged lettuce. Set out the ingredients for submarine sandwiches and allow each family member to make their own custom sub for dinner. Everyone gets exactly what they want to eat at a much lower cost than at the local sandwich shop.

    Breakfast for Dinner

    • Cook a batch of scrambled eggs mixed with peppers and ham. Bake a batch of biscuits, either homemade or from a tube. Add some toaster waffles and a bowl of fruit slices. Serve this dinner with decaf coffee or cups of cocoa, along with frosty orange juice.

    Shrimp Kabobs

    • Run frozen shrimp under cold water until they are just barely thawed. Remove the tails from the shrimp. Alternate the shrimp on wooden skewers with pineapple chunks and pepper cubes. Cook the shrimp skewers over an outdoor or inside grill, or use a panini-maker. Serve the skewers over brown rice mixed with mandarin orange bits.
