How Long Should You Test A Marketing Technique For?

I mentioned in previous articles that testing was essential.
Testing marketing methods for ourselves is imperative.
We do this based on our resources and time.
This provides beneficial information regarding a particular technique you may have implemented.
I am going to use articles for this example..
So you pick up the latest and greatest e-book to read that article marketing can bring you a flood of targeted traffic.
You get all excited and start to consider what to write about.
After you have finished your article you submit it to your favorite directory.
You then start to check your stats like a lunatic to see if you are getting any sales.
You find you are not so you throw your hands in the air and say, "To hell with this".
That of course is the wrong attitude and I am being dramatic to emphasize the point.
If this happens we are going to look at a number of factors.
A- Your headline, was it enticing enough, did it ask a question? Next we will look at the body of the article.
First off -was it relevant to the title, secondly did it provide good information that would be of benefit to the reader? Thirdly was it concise and too the point? Now we will look at the conclusion of the article.
Does it help our reader understand the points we have raised and can they easily get more information if they so desire.
Lastly the bio box.
Some say this is the most important.
I disagree.
A crap article is a crap article no matter what the bio box says.
The worse the article is the least somebody will want to find out more.
Makes sense right? So if you have done a good job up to here, now you need to create a good bio box.
Firstly make your links bold.
Tell the visitor what they should expect.
Tell them what they will get and provide for curiosity.
When you have gone over all this go ahead and write your next article.
By the way each time you do a test write down the results.
Put them in a spread sheet.
This way you can view when you made changes and what the results were.
Hence compare notes.
How many articles should you write to test? My humble opinion is five to ten articles.
