Herb Garden Kits
Basic herb garden kits contain simply seeds, soil pellets, and instructions. They give you the ability to grow and harvest your own herbs, but not have to do all the deciding and figuring out of the supplies necessary. You simply plant your seeds in the soil pellets, water and nurture as instructed, and you've got your herbs. Basic herb garden kits are great because they are inexpensive. And although you will miss out on the process of digging in the dirt and planting your herbs, you still get to enjoy the process of nurturing and watering them.
More expensive herb garden kits come with things like booklets filled with recipes on how to use your herbs, kits with containers to place your herbs in, and a whole variety of herb seeds to plant, not just 3 or 4 different plants. As you get into the higher end kits, you will start to get things like growing lamps that will allow you to put your garden in the closet if you wanted. Some have the herbs completely covered with a dome like a miniature green house, and others even have built in watering systems where you simply need to make sure the 'water tank' is filled up. Unfortunately, with these, although there is still some setup involved and germination of your seeds, you are virtually taking some seeds, putting them in a machine and collecting your herbs in a couple weeks. Sure you get some great and fresh herbs and get to watch them grow, etc. But you miss out on the entire process of cultivating them on your own, so although these kits can be great, they aren't for everyone.
